@miamibadboi So your income is not declared?
@jmigital …it is dangerous to make things like minimum wage laws, as it denies the migrant workers with the only weapon they have! Because it is illegal to hire people who do not have work visas, many people (especially farm owners) would lose the only incentive they had to hire the illegal workers: they can do the same work for a lower price. If restaurants are paying illegal migrant workers the same, by law, then the moment a citizen walks up, that job gets replaced, and the migrant loses.
@TheFerruccio – thnk you – didnt know it wasn’t posted.
@jmigital Your argument is merely an observation, and not really a coherent argument in itself. You declare me to be stupid because, you seem to assume that I have not observed this myself. Of course migrant workers will be taking jobs that people who are better off are less willing to take! This is why I like the idea of free and open immigration. The Mexicans are finding better work than staying in a dangerous and poor country. Nobody is arguing the contrary. However… (continued)…
@jmigital “…- I dont see aMerican clammering for those jobs adn dot tell me you are going to go pick beans for 12 hours. lots of american work off the books – what planet do you live on man!??!”
@jmigital I got your comment, I will re-paste it. “Dude. your so stupid. If Americans wanted to do those jobs – THEY would be doing it. Americans coudl also be workgin in the kitchens at restaraunts – but walk into virtually ANY kitchen at ANY restaraunt and you will see most if not all af the cooks are Latino/Mexican…(continued)…”
Awsome!!!!!!!! – FINALLY someone makes some sense! and bring s some realness to this “issue”.
He is the perfect candidate to become US president……..
The guy with the glasses behind Colbert does not have a sense of humour.
a ha ha ha……..what a fucking waste of tax payer money. Our government needs to gets it’s puerile fucking head out of it’s fucking asshole!
The problem with that is why souldnt they be allowed? we went over the Africa, Mid East and Asia and took their land, exploited the natives and then fucked off. Maybe its their turn?
(its a joke btw)
The biggest argument against immigration (to the US and the EU) is the coming Oil Drought….. i.e. the point where mideast oil wells start producing not enough oil as gets burned
.
When the Drought hits we will be unable to free ourselves, much less immigirants. We should be following a policy of freezing the population at current levels (except for natural growth) so we can be better prepared for the crisis
.
@doublenono88 actually they also immigrated here at one point
@adavidpirtle I’m putting work in quotes because I don’t think that a living wage law is a good idea in the first place. It would alienate unskilled labor as each employee would become a minimum risk to the employer.
While the migrant workers at your establishment might have been paid equal wages, this is not the case everywhere. There are several examples, especially in the case of farming, gardening, where immigrant workers get paid far less than minimum wage.
@adavidpirtle
Having a living wage law would only “work” if the immigration, as it is, is kept illegal. The immigration of Mexican workers is a good thing, as it provides people with additional labor, and the lives of the immigrants are improved. I think you are being a bit overconfident of the nature of living wage laws if you think it will completely end illegal immigration. It would only “work” if immigration was kept as restricted, and I don’t want restricted immigration.
@playdrumsmofuxa thought the same thing
LOOOOOL, every punch line was priceless, i mean, id probably only laugh at half normally, but the stonefaced look on everyone, fuck this is priceless, i mean it takes a real comedian, with realy big balls to go into this room and tell jokes. Btw laughs at the sarcasm of them doing their jobs.
kinda reminds me of tony stark lol
COLBERT YOU ARE A REAL AMERICAN HERO!
Everyone in America is a illegal immigrate. The people who actually do have a say, are the Native Americans.
So funny and so true. I know a good number of people now on Welfare simply because they refuse to take these humbling jobs. I’d say many of these people should get a free pass since I too, love a fresh salad bar…
I think his comedy is a very effective way for him to communicate his views. And, I love it that we can get a healthy laugh on some difficult and sad issues.
Colbert #1.
I dont know who got it worst. George Bush or the Entire Judicial Branch?
And might I add, my Ancestors didnt get kidnapped to work the fields, so that some Mexicans can come in and be better slaves.
ok that was kind of wrong.
@dougger42
Well he did highlight the issues through his humour which in a sense is better
