We get to post anything we want unless its on private property like websites or other peoples houses. Like i cant curse on most websites or they ban me (like this one)
Because the press can practically print whatever they want and a lot of people will choose to live their lives and make decisions based on what their local news medium tells them is safe / not safe or cool / uncool.
It only affects you when you believe everything you read.
Remember that there is a great deal of bias in the media.
Sheep follow the herd, smart people do their own research and develop their own conclusions.
The effect is on your belief systems and the way you look at world events.
It is a social engineering tool.
People will believe virtually anything if the reason for belief is significant to their lives and belief system. If people are lead to believe something of value to them may be threatened it is real easy to convince them to believe anything.
There is no such thing as freedom of the press anymore. It offends gays, minorities, Republicans, Liberals, left wing, right wing, rich, poor. A very sad time in our history to say the least. I hope I did not offend, yeah right!
Freedom of press allow news to write whatever they want about the government without getting in trouble. Plus, by doing that the newspaper has power over the government or the government can use them to manipulate the country.
it doesn’t do nothing but let the media be spiteful idiots by telling us which celeb did what it never tells us how our so called leaders rape us every day and f our lives up the news is filled with celeb gossip and so called exclusives that do nothing but dumb mankind down by telling us that some hollywood jerk took the trash out thanks to paparazzi hiding behind freedom of the press.
the press is a waste of time it blinds you ignore it
For starters, we can look at any website we want. Our newspapers have freedom as long as they follows guidelines against slander (making statements against a person’s character without giving documented evidence).
The main problem is when advertisers pressure the media regarding what receives attention. However, there was a pair of Fox network reporters (husband & wife team) that researched the use of bovine growth hormone on dairy farms, & they won a court case when Fox suppressed the couple’s film footage & tried to pay them to suppress their research entirely, all due to commercial pressure. The couple won the lawsuit & the footage became available online as public property. (Sorry, I would have to find where I have the web address for finding it & further info as to their names, etc., & it might take me hours to find it. However, I did hear the couple speak & saw the footage on a theater-size screen at a conference on genetic engineering, so I know that I did not get this from hearsay.)
In addition, in recent years, in particular beginning with 9/11/01, librarians across the country have banded together to allow patrons the freedom to look at any website and to read any book, & they have stood up to the FBI to guarantee that freedom. In addition, the librarians have refused to turn over information regarding our library records that might show which books you & I checked out or what we might have typed into our e-mail or how I responded to your YA question or to track which websites we visited, even if we used the government-owned library computers to do all of those things. You may be able to get further info about this by doing a search on the national policy of members of the ALA, which is the American Library Association, and the FBI will not be told that you looked for such subversive material. In fact, your friendly librarians may even help you to find details on that policy. I am not a librarian, but they have my admiration for being such true heroes of freedom of speech.
Basic geometry: “The whole is the sum of it’s parts”
Once you acknowledge that living in a society where there is no “Freedom of the Press”….where the truth is kept from you for the good of a few….where crimes can be committed and you will never know…..where the people and their opinion is manipulated to benefit others……when you agree this is not good for a nation all year……then you must also admit your daily life is adversely impacted to some degree.
Evil rarely hits you in one big lump……it usually comes at you “one grain of sand” at a time….. soon there are so many “evil grains” you smother.
The impact on your daily may not be immediately noticeable
EXAMPLE: You can verify this by examining newspaper achieves…… When a Democrat is in office the media reports that the economy is ” robust and doing well”….. sure enough the market goes on to do well…… Now under a Republican administration the media reports……under the same economic conditions….. the the economy ” is teetering on disaster and going to fall”…..sure enough the market drops…..
Instead of reporting “news’ they actually create it……NOW…..take away the “Freedom of the Press”……give that power to manipulate the economy and your life to a media under the control of anyone……and you will lose…. daily

It made the American public vote for a president that has no experience, and hate a president who did the right thing, for starters.
The media shapes opinions and beliefs.
it lets you say watever the f*ck you want…not that hard to figure out.

You certainly have a good question.
They help our corrupt government rule over us, rather than to serve us.
