Is there really Freedom of the Press in the US?

CNN, Fox news, NY Times &/or MSNBC, CBS News are all getting their political info from the politicians/advisers in Washington or from the people who use to work in Washington & still have connections their so who cares if there is Freedom of the Press because if they are getting most of their info from the Govt (or former) officials then the Govt. is essentially controlling the Press at least on all political issues.

So what the heck is the point of having freedom of press?

I’m writing a Research Paper on the the freedom of press for anti-American media?

So far, the only example I have to argue is the corporate refusal to sign Al Jazeera in America because it is an anti-American news network, in addition to supposedly being terrorist funded.

I’m thinking that someone older than my 19 years may be able to tell me an example in the past, perhaps during one of the 20th century wars, where the government tried to limit the presses with anti-America agendas.

I’m just looking for ideas, as I’ve got 11/40 sources and no clue what else to investigate.
